The story of Marques de Murrieta begins in the mid-nineteenth century, when Luciano Murrieta and García-Lemoine, Marquis de Murrieta, decided to turn Rioja wine into a noble wine.
The key to the quality and style of the wines of Marques de Murrieta reside in its Finca Ygay. 300 hectares of self-controlled and integrated vineyards around the winery, in the south of the Rioja Alta wine sub-area, a few kilometers from the region’s capital.
The Ygay farm enjoys a mainly continental climate, tempered to the north by the Sierra de Cantabria. The different altitudes, ages and expositions of the vineyard allow you to offer a diversity that is evident in the six varieties of grapes cultivated, five of them inks: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, Graciano, Cabernet Sauvignon and the last one, variety White Viura.
