Is a wine marked by ripe fruit, with balsamic notes, good structure and complexity, with a perceptible power but without edges.
El Bosque 2014 has a beautiful and deep maroon color. On the nose is pure black fruit like plum. Intense and very fragrant, with the toasted fragrance of the barrel and fresh citrus at the end. In the mouth it has intensity and power tanicity but fat , with a good final volume. A good bomb with perfume of black fruit, violets and a sweet spot that reminds of vanilla.
The wine is obviously oaked, but it’s quite integrated and compact, and should have a very positive development in bottle.
At the foot of the Sierra de Sonsierra, and in the heart of the D.O. Rioja, are born the wines of this winery built by the brothers Marcos and Miguel Eguren with the stone of the land.
Among its most prestigious “pagos”highlight La Veguilla, 10 hectares with plenty of boulder, planted with the Tempranillo variety and a small proportion of Viura and Malvasia. After a careful selection of their strains, which naturally produce only 2 or 3 bunches, a handcrafted vintage and a meticulous breeding, you get the prestigious Amancio.
Another important farm for the winery, El Bosque, is planted with the Tempranillo variety and has an area of 1.5 hectares of clay-sandy soil with an abundance of boulder and alluvial remains. This is where this wine comes from.
Under the premise of obtaining great wines from unique vineyards, the Eguren brothers started working hard on the La Llana, Los Terreros, Jararte, El Bosque and La Veguilla farms, from which charismatic wines such as Sierra Cantabria Cuvée, Sierra Cantabria Organza were born, Sierra Cantabria Private Collection, Finca El Bosque and Amancio. These wines are the fruit of the most meticulous selection of clusters, in many cases de-stemmed by hand and trodden in the traditional way to achieve the smoothest extraction.
