Terreus, one of the greats of Spain.

Red wine 100% Tempranillo  of Bodegas Mauro.(V.T Castilla y León)

Terreus is one of the greats of Spain. A plot wine from the area of Cueva Baja, of only 3 hectares of old vineyards planted on very loose soil of clay and sand. This vintage is considered by the winery itself as “one of the most aristocratic”. Cleans fruitiness, subtlety, aromatic depth and precise structure are qualities that accompany this great multi-layered Tempranillo.

The color is a dark, bright ruby color. The nose is very sharp with red berries, and is focused, gentle, subtle and complex with great freshness. The palate is  spectacular; it’s tight and more serious with awesome balance.

After a thorough selection in the winery, grapes are transferred by gravity to 12,000 kg. Separating the items by varieties, farms and production zones. The alcoholic fermentation, with autochthonous yeasts and the subsequent maceration, lasts for two to three weeks. Aging, 24 months in French oak barrels.

This has all the components and the balance to have a long life in bottle. They still age the wine in 100% new oak, but through viticulture, with higher acidity and less alcohol, the oak has a different impact in the wine.

It can be consumed now, but it will be much more complex and evolved if we have the patience to save a few years in the bottle of this fabulous wine. A great show for our senses.

Since 1978, Bodegas Mauro has been defined for producing red wines with vocation of aging, which claim the identity of the terroir and the personality of the maker. The winery is located in Tudela de Duero, a town near Valladolid whose wine heritage goes back to 1562, when Felipe II exempts it from paying taxes for the quality of its vineyards. There, a Castilian house from the XVII century houses the breeding and bottling rooms. As a counterpoint, since 2004, the elaboration takes place in a modern and functional building that allows to transfer the grapes by gravity to the fermentation tanks.

They have 35 ha of vineyards distributed between the municipalities of Tudela de Duero and Santibáñez de Valcorba.

The wine marks the time and type of aging according to the location of the plot, the age of the vineyard and the vintage. The winery produces three opulent, elegant and balanced wines: Mauro, Mauro Vendimia Seleccionada, which was born from a selection of its best vineyards on two farms, according to the criteria of altitude and age of the vines; And Terreus, coming from an exceptional and historic vineyard, of which only 6,000 bottles are produced annually.
