Among the range of wines Ultreia, this is probably the most representative style Bierzo. It is made with Mencías of several plots spread over Valtuille de Abajo with soils are mostly clay proportion but also sandy and stony. It is a round wine, very social, ideal for everyday enjoyment. The 2013 is considered one of the best vintages of Raul Perez in Bierzo and wine is characterized by following the line of the previous vintages and lighter and more fragrant it even shows that in 2012.
It has a nice combination of herbal aromas with wild berries, flowers and something earthy. The palate has lively acidity, a very fine texture and a remarkable finish.
Raul Perez has a particular way of understanding wine. The priority is not the cellar, but the vineyard. Therefore, working on many projects, own and in collaboration, taking only as a starting point the vineyards where the grapes find you like best.
In the Bierzo, it is also the Technical Director of Bodegas Estefania and brand Tilenus, and has recently returned to the family winery Castro Ventosa. But his collaborations and consultancies are numerous and include areas such as Rias Baixas (with its wine Sketch) Ribeira Sacra (with wine Sin), Monterrei, Madrid and also in countries like Portugal and South Africa.
In 2003 began his personal project under the name Bierzo Ultreia. An ancient form with the Camino de Santiago greeted and means “go beyond” meaning it relates to family and personal history of the roots of Raul Perez.
