The Puntido is one of the great references in Rioja, a wine that has in all vintages of a great national and international prestige. Marcos Eguren defines it as “The minerality of Tempranillo in a growing area limit”.

Traditional production 100% destemming. maceration for 5 days at 6 ° C temperature, making pumping soft and light aeration during this phase. alcoholic fermentation: 7 days with temperature control between 28 and 30, making 1 or 2 times per day in its first phase and ending with a pump.Post-fermentation maceration: During 7 days. Transferred directly into new French oak barrels where malolactic fermentation take place.
Aging planned for 16 months or so in new French oak barrels where malolactic performed.
Viñedos Paganos, among dolmens and archaeological sites is this winery founded in 1998 by brothers Eguren (Sierra Cantabria).
The winery shares space with exceptional vineyard called El Puntido, old and meaning of “landing” word, like the terrace form this between the Sierra de Cantabria and the Ebro River. The area is under the influence of a climate Atlantic with shades of continentalidad, sheltered from the cold north winds thanks to the protection of the Sierra de Cantabria, which give the vineyard, and therefore the wine, a unique mineral character.
The vineyard has a slope of 25 hectares facing noon and was planted on trellises in 1975 with Tempranillo on a clay loam soil with sandstone subsoil.
