Rafa Cambra innovates from memory with this wine in Fontanars dels Alforins plot that blindly Looks Like Atlantic !. sour cherry and orange sanguine nose, and both fresh and earthy, definitely with something wild mouth. The Forcallà 2014 Antonia is pure criminality and personality.
Vineyard in organic farming , planted ungrafted , on terraces in the westernmost part of Fontanars dels Alforins , 600 meters above the sea level.
The harvest took place in October. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in small stainless steel tanks of 2000 liters with 10 % raspón with light pumping . Maceration at 26 C for 21 days . Aged for 8 months in French oak barrels of 500 liters (used between 3-5 years ).
The variety was close to extinction, perhaps because it delivered lower alcohol and less color than others and also because it is a late-ripener, which made it a risky cultivar given the zone’s tendency to suffer torrential autumn rains.
It’s a good job they did not rip this vineyard up and that Rafael Cambra is showing us this interpretation of the grape which feels very aromatic, subtle and floral, with almost imperceptible impact from its eight months in neutral 500-liter French oak barrels.
There is something different, a note of wilderness here. The palate is very fresh and with a silky texture, very elegant, tasty and long. This is not only unique, it’s also great.
In nose red acid fruit: tart cherry , orange sanguine , Mediterranean forest . The mouth has Tannins polished , earthy texture , light frame.
It is recommended to open a couple of hours before consuming . To consume, now and until 2020 in optimum conditions.
Rafa Cambra works in the field and in the cellar with minimal intervention. Ecological culture and respect for the environment and nature of the area. Cereal surrounding pine forests and vineyards , allowing not have a dominant plague. The summer sunflower , olive trees , almond trees in the highest areas , all contribute to biodiversity and there is thus less than trying to fight diseases in the vineyard.
